The American Revolution is almost like the civil war, but it happened in the late 1700s. It is split into three parts - patriots, loyalists, and neutralists - instead of two. The movie, The Patriot, is a fictional movie that shows us a couple of the battles and the life of colonials, focusing on Benjamin Martin, in South Carolina during the American Revolution. You would wonder why people really want to go for a war when they already know what the outcome is going to be. Some people were forced to fight because of the death of their family members, caused by the opponent, whereas others did not fight because they did not want to risk their families even though both of the kind of people were patriots. There are some people who did not really care about anything but being a patriot such as Colonel Harry Burwell. The producers of The Patriot, Dean Devlin, Mark Gordon, and Gary Levinsohn, chose a composite of different colonists - Francis Marion, Thomas Sumter, Colonel Daniel Morgan, Elijah Clark, and Andrew Pickens - to make Benjamin Martin look not only good but also a faultless hero. Benjamin Martin is one of the die-hard patriot, but he still refused to fight at the beginning of the movie. The truth is that “nearly 52 years after his return to England by the Americans, General Banastre Tarleton died” in 1833 (Melli). The plot is clearly inaccurate about his death because first of all he did not die in America, therefore, undoubtedly, he did not die on the battlefield fighting with one of the composite of Benjamin Martin in the Revolutionary War. In actuality, he died in Shropshire, England. The producers do not desire to end the movie hanging, so they decide to kill the villain in the movie (General Tavington) - like almost all movies - to have a more desirable
