Othello is the General of the Cyprus army with honest Iago by his side. During this time racism was happening and Othello was a part of it. Othello tried his best for everybody to like him; people would talk behind his back, call him names, and would eventually ruin his life. Iago was an ensign in the army, and his “good” friend, who would put lies into Othello's head, which eventually, he took control of Othello. In this essay Othello will display cultural criticism and how it displays him as a person in the story.
A tragedy is a dramatic form that was first defined around 330 B.C. by the Greek philosopher Aristotle. In class we read the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare. Caesar was warned many times about the ides of March but he ignored them which caused his tragic death. Caesar had many tragic flaws, however; Brutus´ tragic flaws shows how the play should be renamed ¨The Tragedy of Brutus”. A tragic flaw is a character defect that causes the downfall of the protagonist of a tragedy.
Othello: A Close Reading This is an analysis of the lines 260-279 of the third scene of the third act of Shakespeare’s Othello. In an attempt to fulfill the incessant need for comfortable dichotomies, societies tend to be divided into two groups: the ‘in-crowd’ and the ‘others’. These strict dualities, constructed upon the inherent need for adversaries, are often as arbitrary as they are false and based on nothing but fear.
In both short stories Othello and Antigone are both tragic heroes, they do great things and have great power or strength. In Othello he was hated by some people they tricked him and made him to things that he would never do everything he has done and in the end and ends up dying from false manipulation For example, Othello defeated the Venice’s enemies. Antigone makes sure that a Theban right is a Theban due. But in the end the other evil characters flaws destroyed the two heroes.
Antigone vs. Othello Antigone is a classical Greek tragedy written by Sophocles, an ancient Greek play writer from the Golden Age. On the other hand, Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice is a tragedy written by William Shakespeare from the Elizabethan era. In the play Antigone, Antigone was the protagonist and Creon was the antagonist. The basic plot is that Polyneices did not receive a proper burial after he died. Antigone is determined to give her brother a proper burial even if it means having to go against her uncle, Creon (king of Thebes), and the rules of the state.
As humans we all have been where rumors have been spread about us or where we do the opposite. They, however, all tend to do some harm to us and it can cause certain conflicts to occur during the process. Death can be the outcome of something like this because this did happen to three innocent people. They were all wrapped up in a bed of lies that ended their lives sooner than expected. Thesis statement: Othello Desdemona and Emilia ended up with unfortunate deaths because of Othello 's integrity towards Iago.
Through-out the years, countless number of actors have taken on the challenging role of Othello. Many of them have succeeded, while many have come short of expectation. Nevertheless, the role of Othello remains the most challenging to play and is a testament of the ability of all actors, since it was first performed in 1604. From our generations different interpretations on the language of the plays, to the need for creativity to captivate the audience. The challenges for actors have been increasing with every year.
The tragedy of Othello written by William Shakespeare presents the main character Othello as a respectable, honorable, and dignified man. However, because of his insecurities and good nature he is easily taken advantage of and manipulated by his alleged friends. Shakespeare is known for his exceptional ability to compose plays full of deceit, revenge, and jealousy. Jealousy is an underlying theme throughout the tragedy and has been represented by many of the main characters, such as Iago, Roderigo, and Othello. The topic of jealousy will ultimately lead to the demise of many characters throughout the tragedy.

TRAGEDY AND ITS INTELLECTUAL VALUE Aristotle, in his Poetics, provides a series of characteristics which would attempt to define a tragedy. Alongside those characteristics brought forward, we see examples of good tragedies and bad tragedies according to Aristotle. For instance, a tragedy will have to consist of the imitation of an action. However, a good tragedy would rely on the realistic nature of the action, as well as the emotions which are procured to the audience, and in the lights of Aristotle’s argument, those emotions would be predominantly those of pity and fear.
