When it is said that media are an economic system, we are recognizing the alternative agenda of media today. It suggests that media is sometimes used not to report unbiased views, fairly or even give the public something to actually be informed about. The media has turned its popularity into a way to feed us propaganda. The goal of TV channels is to make a profit. They are now much less concerned in which what ways the obtain this profit. This is portrayed in the film Outfoxed. Outfoxed is a documentary about Fox News and their serious corruption over many, many years. The documentary interviews former employees, and addresses the far right conservative favoritism, and rejects the idea of fairness. Mass media serves a huge role on influencing society. Media helps shape the publics opinion and interests. Media are a "social system" because it conducts what happens within an actual society. For example, in the film Color Adjustment the role that black people played on television was a huge part of the continuous inequality long after slavery was ended. On television, blacks were continuously portrayed in a way so that no white viewers would be "offended." In addition, blacks were portrayed in an unrealistic way that most actual black people could not relate to at all. These prime time shows did not represent what life was actually like for black people during this time. This helped add to the racism in the era of the civil rights movement. Black people were portrayed falsely and a lot of these TV shows showed racist, stereotypical images. These TV shows could have used their power of reaching so many to provide non racist images to help generate equality between blacks and
