Identify healthy food choices
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Given examples of healthy and unhealthy foods student will be able to distinguish the healthy from the unhealthy foods with a 100% accuracy.
Given a cut and paste worksheet, with a big red heart on the center of it, students will draw the foods that make their hearts healthy inside the hearts and draw what will make the heart unhealthy outside the heart with 100% accuracy. …show more content…

So eating multiple twinkies is really unhealthy, but if we eat just one and make sure we are healthy the rest of the day than it is not that big of a deal. Desserts need to be treated as a reward and not a necessity.
Explain. How this is relevant to their health.
Discuss how we eat a huge dinner at thanksgiving and how we feel afterwards.
This is something most students can relate to, and they all know how it feels after eating a lot of food. So if we explain this, the students will be able to understand eating like this a lot of the time will only cause our bodies to become sick, reflecting the way we feel.
Guided Practice:
Teacher will hand out worksheet and the same heart will be drawn on the whiteboard.
Have one student come to the front of the room and hold up a food of their choosing and hold it up so that it is either inside the heart, healthy, or outside the heart, unhealthy.
Students will give a thumbs up or thumbs down if they agree with the student.
They will draw that item on their worksheet.
This will continue until all the snacks are gone.
(Individual Practice):
Students will complete the worksheet individually using crayons, and markers. This worksheet is exactly like the one in guided
