The 26th Amendment Specific Purpose Statement: To provide information about the 26th amendment and how it started and what the implications are for our society today. INTRODUCTION: How would you feel about being forced to fight in war but not be allowed to vote? In 1971 congress passed the 26th amendment which allowed individuals aged 18-20 voting rights. Today this gives many more people and most of us in this very classroom the right to vote and be a voice in today’s society. After draft ages were lowered the desire for lower voting ages heightened, which caused for congress to create the 26th amendment which still greatly impacts are world today. War and cries for a voice led to the ratification of a very influential amendment. I. During the Vietnam war President Franklin D.
