The purposes of a marketing plan are to outline the strategies necessary to be able to covey the intended message of a specific presentation to a specific audience. The presentation this marketing plan covers is one that covers substance use, misuse and addiction within the collegiate environment. The most important thing to identify and examine in a marketing plan, is the intended audience for which the presentation should be made to target. After the audience is known, then finding the right ways to connect with that audience is the next major step. Understanding the thought process, level of knowledge and even level of maturity is crucial to knowing how to connect with the intended audience. High school seniors could also be included in this list, because of how close in time they are to entering the collegiate environment. But for the purposes of this presentation, the intended audience is first year college student; primary at Florida State University. The reasoning behind this group being the target audience is because these are the students who face the highest risk of drug misuse coupled with an overall lack of knowledge about the collegiate drug …show more content…

Since the individuals included in this group are young and have not had much experience in a dynamic environment, such that of a college atmosphere, they are easier to succumb to peer pressures that might involve harmful activities. Some of the high risk activities involved in a college atmosphere that the audience will soon be exposed to include: drug use, drinking, club/bar situations, and social interactions (for the purposes of being direct, to the topic of the presentation, “Social interactions” is specifically referring to “partying”). With being exposed to such high risk activities it is important the purpose of the presentation to be able to clearly identify and convey to the audience the risk and dangers that are associated to them. In order to better created a presentation that completes that task, the maturity of the audience must be taken into consideration. Since first year college students are very young, in general, and are about to experience complete freedom it will be hard to tell them directly what and what not to do. It would be beneficial to reframe from giving direct orders to the audience, such as “Do not do drugs”. Instead the best way to approach would be to show respect to them, relate to them and presentation the information in way that leads them to a particular answer, or point of view, on their own. They would be more
