Everyone is an outsider. Good or bad. Geek or jock. Like it or not, everyone is an outsider. Being misjudged is just one of the problems Gregor had in the story “The Metamorphosis.” Gregor had problems from the first sentence of the story, “One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking up from anxious dreams, he discovered that in bed he had been changed into a monstrous verminous bug” (Kafka 137). The biggest problem Gregor had was fitting in. Gregor was an outsider, different than the rest of his family, and for that, Gregor was constantly misjudged. Gregor was misjudged for many reasons. The physical representation of himself was probably one of the bigger reasons. Gregor’s body was described as having “wriggling legs,” (Kafka 140) and how the “lower part of his body at the moment was probably the most sensitive,” (Kafka 148) and he also had “numerous legs” (Kafka 137). …show more content…

No one understood what he was saying. Anyone could be an outsider, even if they don't think so. Smart, popular, red hair, or brown eyes, Anyone can be an outsider. We all have small things that we fascinate over and that other people consider to be weird. Speaking of the word weird, everyone has a small part of them that's a little weird. Whether it is someone’s favorite celebrity, or favorite Youtuber, everyone is going to have different opinions about the topic. A quote from a tv show called “One Tree Hill” states exactly what I think about this topic. “People are going to label you, it’s how you overcome those labels that counts.” This quote shows that by ignoring those labels and things that people say, it will count. You should be the bigger person. I think that this is something Gregor should have done. If Gregor would have ignored those labels, and overcame them, his story would have ended differently.
