Discussion The combined effects of inequality and structural racism indicators at risk of SGA birth income were examined and found that the structural racism, assessed against racial inequalities in education, employment, and prison was strongly associated with the birth of SGA when It occurred in combination with high income inequality. Racial inequalities and racism among the groups has played a big role in the concept of conflict theory. Conflict theory examines the rising conflict between the dominate group, or white ruling class, and racial minorities, such as African Americans. This conflict and inequality among the races may be a reason why 20.2 percent of African American males die by homicide. In fact, African Americans are six times as likely as whites to be killed by homicide.
Past research indicates that there has been racial and income inequality in Los Angeles for decades. More specifically, there has been racial and income disparities in quality of life and access to resources. Blacks and Latinos have a lower quality of life and access to fewer resources than Whites. The income level of Blacks and Latinos is also lower than that of Whites. The purpose of this research was to investigate how race and income impact such factors as quality of life, access to resources, education, and personal beliefs.
Through this reading and the documentary movie that we have watched, it is not hard to figure out how both external and internal factors that formed his personalities. African Americans have been oppressed for over 340 years, by the white community. African Americans have fought endlessly for their rights to give them justice, but the Clergy believe it to be “unwise and untimely” (P.3). They feel the need to tell African Americans to wait, not considering how harmful it is to them. MLk responds to the Clergymen, by giving reasons on why they can’t wait to have equality and justice. Affirmative action has been the standard of achieving equality in the United States but there has been an ongoing debate between those who support or oppose this principle and its effectiveness. The supporting side claims that affirmative action is still beneficial to equality. But a weakness for this view is that it doesn’t account for the unfair advantages that affirmative action can bring to its target groups. The opposing side believes that as stated by the book, “affirmative action denies the principle of equality under law” (Cochran et al. 349). This is a strength because, individuals should be accountable for their actions regardless of their racial or gender background to the fullest extent of the law.
The america that I believe in should have no discrimination against race, everyone is equal. There is no race that is superior to one another.
