The paper I choose from the author - La Verme Mc Quiller Williams, who choose to research about sex worker, street prostitution and geography. The research question is Sex in the City: Why and How Street Workers Select their locations for Business. The author used case study of a city in New York, with Michel de Certeau’s (1984) theory of spatial patterns. The author is going to discuss about how and why sex workers choose locations for their business.
The research method choose by the author are interviews with female and male sex workers, police officers and an outreach worker. The author chooses to focus in a specific area in New York City, this specifically targeted area known as Lyell Avenue. The number of all interviewees are thirty-eight participants, included sex workers with male and females, police officers and the outreach worker who are familiar with that area. …show more content…

For instances, sex workers can tell more about about their personal experience in the sex industry, sense of safety and security; police officers and the outreach worker call tell how to manage this area and views from community residents, also any support they do to help sex workers. According to different kinds of sampling and analysis, the author found out different view from different groups of people. Firstly, this research method helps the author to shape the personal experiences towards sex worker who are victimized in sexual abuse, robbery, etc. Secondly, according to this research the author found out that how and why sex workers choose to work on the streets that they do, it can answer the research question and critical of some point about the safety and management of sex work on the street or in private
