Occupational Performance Spectrum Model
Occupational therapy is a client-centered profession and every client’s experience is individualized and tailored to their own needs. While there are many different interventions and assessments that can be used and no two situations are the same, there are certain interventions that are rooted in theory and backed up by research. These interventions and assessments that are proven to be effective for certain populations can be considered best practice. The model discussed in this paper is the Occupational Performance Spectrum Model

By using MOHO practitioners can identify the barriers, whether environmental or personal, that are impacting the individual.
Biopsychosocial Model
It is important to focus on all aspects of a client that impact their well-being which includes not only biological, but psychological and social aspects as well. These aspects can include but are not limited to mental health, lived environment, social groups, and other social determinants of health. The biopsychosocial model can be applied to many different populations because of its broad concepts that are present in all individuals (Gentry et al.,
2018). The biopsychosocial model is a holistic model that aligns with the core values of occupational therapy (American Occupational Therapy Association, 2021 & Gentry et al., 2018).
The biopsychosocial model can be used across many settings with many different diagnoses and populations which makes it beneficial to understand. Understanding and using the biopsychosocial model can foster interprofessional collaboration because of the broad understanding the practitioner gains of the client’s life and condition that other practitioners may not
