“The Tigers are the World Champs” (Anderson 243). The 1984 Tigers had accomplished a lot throughout the season. Most of these things would have been unfathomable without the help of a manager, Sparky Anderson. Sparky went through a lot as the season went on. He still remained positive even through the passing of his father and team struggles took place. He also acted as another member of the family in the clubhouse to his players. Due to Sparky Anderson’s drive and determination, unfortunate life experiences, and high regard, he made baseball a great game for the entire world to enjoy.
A baseball season comes with a lot of success as well as a lot of failure. Although the Tigers’ 1984 season was mostly successful, some failure came into play also. After a very hot 35-5 start, the world had their eyes on the Tigers. When the All Star Game approached, the Tigers had a record of 57-27 which was a very mediocre record from where they were at the beginning of the year. “I hope our guys can tighten their belts and dig in”

He promised the tigers a championship over his five years with the Tigers. He did it quickly, and efficiently. He also had more playoff victories than any other manager in history. The passing of his father really hit home for him. Even though it was a stand still point in Sparky’s life, the memories and life lessons that he learned helped Sparky push through the tough times of his season. “It sure put things into perspective; baseball seems so important until something like this happens (Anderson 60). The season itself was astounding due to Sparky and the overcome obstacles that came with him. Sparky (George) Anderson was an amazing friend and manager. I know, because of my own personal experiences in the game of baseball, there would be nobody else I would want to be coached by, based on his the way he dominated Major League
