Drew is a Mexican teenager who is an only child who faced many problems. His father and mother have a rough relationship that he is stuck in the middle of and he faces problems at school also. Drew has memories of his father beating his mother in front of him. He doesn’t know what to do and is scared for his families wellbeing. He has a friend named Sam that he spends a lot of his time with. Drew’s mom wrecked her car and his friend Sam has a father who is a car mechanic. Drew’s mom came to pick up her car one day and Sam and his father both noticed Drew’s mom’s face. Her face had bruises. Sam and his father try to tell Drew that he should call them or the cops if he ever needed help. Drew came home one day from school to his father beating his mom and was told to go to his room. Drew refused and grabbed the phone unnoticed and called the cops and reported that his father was beating his mother and his mother needed help. Drew also got into a confrontation with Sam one day and realized that he was becoming angry so he left. “Each one of us is born into a particular time, place, and social context.” (Sensory & DiAngelo, 2012, p. 15) Drew was upset one day for some odd reason. He went to Sam’s dad’s shop to pick up his mom’s car. Drew tried to influence Sam to drive the car and wanted him to break rules but Sam denied it. Drew and Sam’s conversation evolved into an argument which led to Drew wanting gaining the urge to hit Sam. Drew realized he was getting mad and left. This act conducted by Drew makes me realize that his actions that day were a result of his dad’s encounters with Drew’s mom. Drew witnessed this behavior and gave Drew the notion that this type of behavior was acceptable. Overall, Drew restrained from his urge and overcame his bad
