The colour is very light pale green, The artist used pastel colours which is lighter shades. The light colour contrast The black lines. For pale skin, dark eyes which is making the features stand out against the flat surface. The difference makes it more attention/more timeable to the viewer. Black Hair has a lot of detail. Shading contrasts green and red.

I guess the picture is monumental, the picture is very big compared to the typical size and shape of a portrait. the eyes appear halfway above the head, the eyes are the same height and widths of the head. the bottom of the nose is also large.Facial features are unproportional angular the eyes and the mouth is big and the head and chin is small, …show more content…

The typical technique of this artisit is called Applied oil painting which uttilised Brushs with pallete knife . His technique was inspired by primitive simple art that . "When I was as old as these children, I could draw like Raphael, but it took me a lifetime to learn to draw like them." Picasso was using this primitive art method essentially created a mask in his own image, like the African masks. A key feature is the over simplifcation of figure and lack of clarity.

The picture is a close view portraint in abstract weird colors so I feel this picture tells about things about the artist picasso feeling from his perspective. a self portrait is defined as, "a painting or drawing of yourself that is done by yourself. " therefore it is a an image of yourself painted by your own hands. Therefore the artist is communicating his ideas through his cubist movement, and therefore a self portrait in this style can be a representation of himself the image is still clearly recognizable, of the artist face, so therefore the viewer appreciate the key features and style. The artist may also be using these elements to represent
