The Detroit Industry Mural by Diego Rivera was created from 1932-1933 which is displayed at the Detroit Institute of Arts ("Diego Rivera Biography”). The piece represents the industrial and technological advancements made during that time and is shown across 27 panels. Additionally, when Rivera was growing up in Mexico, workers were treated poorly and didn’t have laws to protect them because many were living in poverty. This influenced Rivera to create a mural that honored Detroit’s labor force and technological advancements. Diego Rivera was born in Guanajuato, Mexico in 1886 and lived with his father and mother - Diego Rivera and Maria Barrientos de Rivera ("Diego Rivera Biography”).
Oscar de la Hoya was born February 4, 1973, into a very poor and tough neighborhood in East Los Angeles. Sometimes De la Hoya’s family didn’t have enough money for food. There were also lots of street gangs and drug dealers. His father decided to give him some boxing lessons to help adapt to the neighborhood he lived in. Boxing was very big in Oscar de la Hoya’s family.
Charles Richard Drew was born on June 3,1904, in Washington, D.C. Charles Richard Drew was an African American surgeon who developed a way to store blood plasma for transfusion and coordinated the first substantial blood in the United States. He conducted the blood plasma programs of the United States and Great Britain during World War 2. Charles resigned, knowing that the blood of the African Americans would be separated. He died on April 1,1950.
His study of art began when he was only 10 years of age. Before returning to Mexico in 1921, he studied in Mexico City, Spain, France, and Italy. Through his travels, he was greatly influenced by cubism painting, post-impressionism
Picasso was exiting his Blue Period and entering into the Rose Period of his art. (Pablo Picasso’s Rose Period). Martin purposely picked this time period in order to create a multitude of clever jokes hidden within the text as commentaries on the period. For instance, Picasso is talking about a vision of his art and “leaving blue behind”, after which he orders a Rose to drink. This is yet another example of the wondrous mind Martin possesses, to make such an intelligent joke so subtly takes an advanced comedic mind.
Gabriel Iglesias, also known as Fluffy, is a well-known Latino in the Hispanic and American world. From standup comedy all the way to acting, he knows how to make a person laugh their tails off. Gabriel was born on July 15, 1976 in San Diego California. Being the youngest of six children, Gabriel faced a hardship growing up. His father was not around when he was born so he was raised by his mother on Section 8 Housing.
Of my many volunteer and paid extra-curricular activities, the most important to me is the National Art Honor Society, which extends artistic activities to my community. We organize two school events: the Festival of Trees and the Talent Competition. The Festival of Trees is an event when every school club can choose to donate and decorate a tree that we set up. All of the money raised goes to an organization of our choice. For the last 4 years, we have donated to Street Grace, which benefits the fight against human trafficking, especially in the Metro Atlanta area.
Blue represents sadness and green means hope. But there are also East Egg and West Egg, which represent the old and new money, respectively, and the aforementioned eyes of T.J. Eckleburg, a symbol for god, and for society’s lack of morals. And how does all of this relate to Picasso? Vincent Van Gogh was born March 30, 1853 in Zundert, Netherlands. His mother, Anna Carbentus van Gogh was an artist who loved nature, drawing, and watercolors. Father, Theodorus van Gogh, was a minister. Van Gogh had five siblings, two brothers and three sisters. As a child his family was struggling, with six kids in the house.
Vincent van Gogh was an artist and his medium was painting. He was born on March 30th 1853 and died July 29th 1890 he lived in Zundert Netherlands. He went to art school and his art school was the Royal Academy of Arts he studied there and got most of his ideas from that school. Some of his famous work pieces were starting night and that was created June 8th June 1889. Another would be some flowers that was created in 1888 Old Mill the September 1888
Francisco Goya – Tres de Mayo Francisco Jose de Goya was born on March 30, 1746. He was born in a small town called Fuendetodos that is located in Aragon, Spain. His family later moved to Saragossa, Spain and by the age of 14, he became a student to Jose Luzan, who was a local painter. He found inspiration in the arts of many famous artists and copied their style for many years.
With the exception of a few months in an art academy and some professional advice, van Gogh was a self-taught artist who went on to contribute to a movement known as Post-impressionism. Inspired by the works of the Impressionist and other Post-impressionist, van Gogh used his work as an outlet for his emotion thus developing a unique style which continues to be emulated by artist today. Over a 10-year career, van Gogh produced more than 2,100 works of art consisting of drawings, oil paintings, and watercolors. But the sad truth is that his work did not become famous till years after his death, selling only one piece of art during his lifetime. Some of his most notable pieces include The Potato Eaters, Starry Night, and The Night Cafe.
Did you know that Marc Chagall, just like Pablo Picasso, was a master at many different medias? Marc Chagall is a Belorussian born artist that spent most of his time working in France. He was a part of many great movements including Surrealism and Cubism. Chagall showed that no artist has to be a part of strictly one movement or style. Marc Chagall was born in Vitebsk, Belarus, July 6, 1887 as Moishe Segal.
A drug lord, government official, hero, and villain. Pablo Escobar was born December 1, 1949 in a town named Rionegro, Colombia. His mother, Hermilda was a schoolteacher, and his father Abel farmed. Escobar had achieved a great quantity of accomplishments, from the beginning to the end of his life. From his rise as a lower class citizen, to then being amongst the prestigious group of people associated with the economic rank of the 1 percent.
Pablo Neruda Pablo Neruda is a famous Chilean poet, poesia in Spanish, politician, and diplomat who supported the Communist party and served in diplomatic posts around the world.
