The French Revolution was one of the most significant wars that changed France’s history. The Revolution started in 1789 and ended in 1799 and was mainly initiated by the conditions affecting the Third Estate. Louis XVI was predominately the king during this time period but little did he know that an uprising among the peasants was happening. The French Revolution was caused by the Enlightenment ideas because of the American Revolution, the knowledge of rights, and the questioning of France’s government. The American Revolution was basically the “fire” that ignited the change the Third Estate wanted to see in their country.
Historian Henri Lefebvre argued that the Aristocratic Revolution of 1717 to 1788 was the most important cause of the French Revolution. He states that “the French Revolution was started and led to victory by the aristocracy”. The situation was so confusing that it could not be fully reported according to the fiscal administration. The budget of the Old regime roughly consisted of a 126 million livres deficit and the government could have solved this crisis by cutting down spending or raising taxes, though many thought taxes were already too high despite the richest of society; bourgeoisie, nobility and clergy paid the least tax. The nobility controlled the majority of France’s estates and held high-ranking positions in the army and government “The nobility constituted a vast social and political network, a source of power and influence that pervaded every level of French society”.

Ruling through over seven decades, many would say King Louis XIV impacted France more than any other king in history. By receiving “divine right”, Louis XIV birthed an absolute monarchy that loved to flaunt their status a la mode and art. When Louis XIV came to the throne in 1643, style was but a thing in France, but with great power comes being extremely influential.
Annually, millions of people travel to northern France to view the grand and pompous Baroque style of the Palace of Versailles’s Hall of Mirrors. Built in 1698 during the reign of Louis XIV, the Palace of Versailles stood for over 100 years as “the primary residence of the kings of France and the seat of the government,” and in 1979, the Palace of Versailles and its gardens were decreed a World Heritage site by the UNESCO. An examination of the Palace’s Hall of Mirrors will reveal a dramatic use of light, symmetry, large-scale frescoes, a shell for painting, sculpture, and stucco, and an opulent use of rich color and accessories common to a French Baroque-style interior. Louis XII (r. 1610 - 1643) used the initial residence as a hunting lodge and retreat for his family, and in 1624, he commissioned Jacques Lemercier to build a chateau on the site, which remains as “the exterior façade overlooking the Marble Court.” From 1661 to 1710, Louis XIV oversaw the residential transformation of the majestic complex surrounded by gardens.
In 1789, the first shots that marked the start of the French Revolution were fired. The French Revolution did not occur on a whim, for the nation’s instability had been a growing problem throughout the years leading up to it. The overall cause of the revolution is deeply rooted in France’s economic problems, failed attempts at reform, and the antiquated social system that stood in place: the Old Regime. Internal problems that arose because of the Old Regime were a large cause of the French Revolution. The Old Regime was made up of three estates.
Palace of Versailles mainly made of marbles and stones which is different than the material that used in building Forbidden City. The Forbidden City is mainly made of different types of wood and overall view of is a square because chinese believe the shape of square is stable and represents royal majesty. It displays an extraordinarily harmonious balance between buildings and open space within a symmetrical layout. The function of the inner part is the same as Versailles. Royal family live in inner palace and exterior palace is only for ceremony during special events.

Jeanette Walls and her siblings had to face this issue and wrote about it in her memoir, The Glass Castle. The Wells children were born into a family where their parents were content being poor, so much that the children would not know when their next meal would be. Their mother would use all the family’s money on painting supplies, instead of using it to support her children. Their father was constantly running from debt collectors and heavily addicted to alcohol which set a bad example for his children.

This essay will examine the historical accuracy of the film Les Miserables in terms of the social, economic and political conditions in French society post French Revolution. The film Les Miserables depicts an extremely interesting time in French history (from about 1815-1832.) Even though the story line does not depict every detail and event that occurred during the time period as well as the fact that some aspects are dramatized for entertainment purposes, the film effectively spans thirty years of economic, political and social aspects of French Society. However it also manages to bring in references to the past, the French Revolution (1789-1799) and the impact it had on the society portrayed in the film.

There is federal, state, and local laws that regulate prostitution activities based on the confined rules of jurisdiction (Sex Crimes, 2015).
