Pandas Did you know that pandas have lived on earth for more than two million years?! Well, it’s true, but today they are almost extinct! But other than that they are these cute chubby little creatures that we can go and see in China or at the zoo. Pandas are so cool to learn about and their diet is a little weird. They also poop 100 times a day because they eat so much bamboo and food.
Pandas Live high up in the mountains where there is a lot of bamboo! Their daily food is bamboo. But, they also usually eat leaves, stems, and shoots of various bamboo. Pandas sometimes branch out and eat other type of plants, rodents, green corn, honey, grasses, flowers, vines, and sometimes even meat!! One of their characteristic is their body colors. Their bodies are mostly white, but they do have black spots. They have black spots on their ears, legs, nose, and the are around their eye. They also have black around their shoulders and they have a tiny white tail, that is as cute as a sea turtle. Their tail is only 10-20 centimeters long! Another characteristic is their paws. On their paw, they have five “fingers” that go forward and a “thumb” that is an enlarged bone, that they use to hold bamboo, trees, and more. Their length is usually 3.9-5.9 feet long. They are not that long but they 're like a cute little chubby baby!!! Pandas also weigh a lot.The males usually grow to weigh up to 250 pounds. The females grow to weigh 220, or smaller. Finally, the last characteristic is that on all fours they are 2.5 ft. They 're like a small piglet!
Did you know that pandas poop 100 times a day?! Yes, that 's right. They eat so much, they poop 100 times a day. Pandas can eat bamboo for 14 to 16 hours a day!! Pandas also have a special throat to protect them from the bamboo. Much of a pandas food is not digested, so they eat more to help digest the food. Pandas do not hibernate because of their bamboo diet. Panda 's diet is made of 99% of bamboo! Pandas can live to 20 years, but if in a zoo, they can live for 25 years!
