At first, the company's name was Tyson Feed and Hatchery. In 1963, the company’s name was Tyson’s Food Inc, and finally in 1972, the final name for the company was Tyson Food Inc (Don Tyson, former CEO of Tyson Foods, dies after short illness). After these many name changes Tyson Food Inc was booming with business and Don Tyson was just getting started. Don Tyson worked with his father in the family business throughout most of the 1950’s. Eventually, in 1958 Tyson Food Inc built their first plant in Springdale and Don Tyson oversaw the construction and was also the first plant manager. After, many years of hard work Don Tyson was named President in 1966, and in 1967 he became Chairman and CEO of Tyson Food Inc. Sadly, in the same year he became chairman and ceo his father and stepmother were both killed in an automobile-train wreck in Springdale (Mikelson). Due to Don Tyson’s hard work and dedication to his company he became the largest poultry producer in the world, and also became both the largest pork and beef processor. His company was also awarded the “most admired company”, “corporate equality index”, “ Faith Equality Index”, and many more (Mickelson). Everybody has their limit including Don Tyson. In 1983, Tyson Food Inc executive Leland Tollett became president of the company. Don Tyson officially retired in 1995 and Leland Tollett became the chairman and CEO of Tyson Food Inc.
