Before I started writing this essay about the paralegal profession, I did not have any knowledge or experience in the legal field. I believe that paralegal program can support my family and provide me with sufficient income in the future. After I researched and found profession articles about paralegal I learned that Paralegal is an assistant to an attorney who support lawyers and clients too. This job, a paralegal is limited by a diploma or degree from college, but permits chances and opportunities for advancement.
The responsibilities, opportunities, and limitation of a paralegal career convinced me to pursue a degree in this field.

I interested in Employment Law Paralegal who works with issues that affect the workplace and labor. The duties involve writing and filing complaints for employers and employees. I must deal with problems about workplace discrimination and safety or disputes between union and management. Also, Bankruptcy paralegals is another choice in which I am really interested. I got inspiration from studying in bankruptcy class. Bankruptcy paralegals must help to solve their financial problems and start a new life again. The Bureau of Labor Statistics stated that the hiring of legal secretaries and paralegals would grow by 17 percent between 2012 and 2022, which would translate to job growth of 46,200 positions (What does the future hold for the paralegal profession?, 2011). However, a higher degree college and the growth of technology are the challenges that paralegals have to face. Paralegals need to improve in their skills, if they do not want to lose their job to a new paralegal who graduated with a higher degree and who was a higher skill in technology. Technology has become a part of daily work and changes all the time. In addition to word processing, presentation software, time and billing software, Paralegals must become and continue to remain proficient in electronic discovery, on-line filing of pleadings in various courts, as well as document management software.
