In the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Victor Frankenstein's scientific mind helped him to create a living creature by sewing together and reanimating parts of previously dead human, But because of how the creature looked he rejected it when he succeeded at bringing it to life. The creature grew up without any parental affection or guidance. Growing up like this can cause major emotional complications later in life. Through the actions of murdering Victor’s family and loved ones the creature shows his desire for revenge against Victor for abandoning him. According to Sophie Bloom, M.S.L.Ac, by voicing their concerns and their attitudes towards things in the world, parents greatly influence their child and their child’s development. Therefore having a present and positive parental figure while growing up is extremely important for a child or a creature's development. The lack of affection and/or abandonment of a child can also cause severe consequences later in the child's life. According to Judith E. Carroll, Tara L. Gruenewald , Shelley E. Taylor, Denise Janicki-Deverts , Karen A. Matthews, and Teresa E. Seeman “The most toxic childhood stressors are those that occur in the absence of emotional support from a caregiver.” The lack of a parental figure and the absence of emotional support can greatly affect a child's life it can be considered one of the most harmful occurrences in a child's life. According to Edward Kruk, P.h.D. “(85 percent of youth in prison have an absent father; fatherless children are more likely to offend and go to jail as adults)”. Frankenstein’s Creature is not only fatherless, but has also committed multiple murders, fitting the typical fatherless child perfectly. Vanessa Van Edwards, writer for the Huffington Post, writes about a “group of Swiss researchers who studied what happens in the brain when someone reaps revenge. They scanned the brains of people who had just been wronged during a game in the lab. The researchers then gave the wronged participant a chance to punish the other person, and for a full minute as the victims contemplated revenge, the activity in their brain was recorded.Immediately, researchers noticed a rush of neural activity in the caudate nucleus. This is the part of the brain known to process rewards.” The Creature, like many humans, had the desire for revenge against the person who wronged him. When Shelley writes “Cursed, cursed creator! Why did I live? Why, in that instant, did I not extinguish the spark of existence which you had so wantonly bestowed? I know not; despair had not yet taken possession of me; my feelings were those of rage and revenge. I could with pleasure have destroyed the cottage and its inhabitants and have glutted myself with their shrieks and misery.”(117) It really shows the how miserable Victor has made the Creature, In every moments of the Creatures life he is in
