Domestic violence is the concept of individual(s) that engage in and may experience abuse from spouses or in some case family members. Domestic violence can be seen in a way to maintain power over individuals. Domestic violence can happen to any age, race or sex of individuals. I believe children who witness domestic violence are at higher risks of victims of child abuse because an abuser may get tired of abusing one person and move on to other persons in the home. Many children are victims of domestic abuse including sexual, mental and physical. A child may see that his or her parent is being abused every day, continue with life, and say nothing. The IQ levels, reading and math scores of children who are exposed to domestic violence is tremendously lower than those who are not exposed to domestic violence (Carrell, Hoekstra, 2010). Many children do not perform to the best of their ability in school because of anxiety and depression due to the abuse. Some children display acts of violence they have seen or experienced because they have been hurt and do not know how to deal with the abuse. If a small age child is always hitting and kicking other children in school or at the daycare center, it would raise suspicion to me because at that age children are normally mocking and displaying behavior they have been taught or have seen (learned behavior). More than 60% of children that are abused/exposed to violence typically grow up to abuse others because this is all the have seen and know. Though we know, it is not morally right but in their minds, it may be right because they have been treated this
