This leads me to wonder about the effects that absentee parents have on their kids' development. Without a parental figure or without both parental figures it is up to the children to parent themselves without the “...rules, discipline, and support” that is supposed to be provided to them by their parents. So what effect does the lack of these traits have on a child's development? This question is answered by a UMASS Amherst study where it is stated “Previous research has suggested that long term separation, from parents or parent, has the following adverse effects: depression, loneliness, anxiety, anger, behavioral problems at school, low academic achievement motivation, lack of self-esteem, misbehavior, truancy, and stealing. ”(He 1).
While unparenting assumably means neglect, it actually is a parenting style, giving children the right to have numerous freedoms. Unparenting is a form of parenting involving partial parental detachment from the offspring (YourDictionary.com). This often includes a lack of rules or parental guidance. Unparenting has no strict rules or guidelines, leading to countless different forms of the word. However, they are all united by one common category: Independence.
Why does the parents want to get rid of their daughter? The reason why is because the daughters are kind of useless to the parents. The womans are not be able to carry on the family name, and also they have no rights of their own so they tend to take orders. That is why the father in the beginning of Act 1 was willing to give some of his wealth to any men that will wed his two daughters. It so happen to be a two old man name ‘Gremio’ and ‘Hortensio’ that wanted to marry his youngest daughters ‘Bianca’, and as any good father he was gladly to give his younger daughter to one of the old men.
Most people assume that the couple pursuing the divorce react the worst to it. The fact is, the child is also put under a great amount of stress during the separation. Witnessing a divorce can break the trust between a child and the parents. This is especially true in Perry’s case when his mother and father split up. He did not confide with his mother when she won custody of Perry over his father.
Studies also show that children who have gone through divorce are more likely to get lower grades and are considered less pleasant to be around by their peers and teens who live in a single parent or blended home are three times more likely to need psychological help within a year. These choices are already made for the children and they have
Thieves, prostitutes, slaves, and bastards, these all connect in a common social status. In the 16th century, when a man and woman had a child out of wedlock, the descendent was deemed illegitimate; meaning that by law they had no right to their parent’s inheritance. The law of primogeniture, proved to greatly impact not only the social life inside and outside of the family, but the life of the bastard child. 16th century society regarded the bonding of a man and woman in marriage with the upmost importance. Those who diverged from these accepted standards faced ridicule and disapproval by their family and community.
The modern day family lives behind a dark cloak made up of secrets and lies. There is the wife left with physical and mental bruises inflicted upon her by a “loving” husband. Next door, there is a child hiding in the closet, avoiding their parents emotionally charged civil war. Across the street, the family of three is sitting at the dinner table with a plate meant for a mother who left ages ago. A few blocks down, there is a young man lying on his bed, contemplating weather his parents would notice him missing.
(Al Gharaibeh, 2015). The most susceptible in a parental divorce are the children. Some children respond to divorce with aggressive or withdrawn behaviors. These behaviors in turn have emotional impact in their social lives. These children are left to feeling anxious, sad, lonely, and experience low self-esteem.
Linda Pastan and Sharon Olds are two of the most influential contemporary writers. They write about personal experiences as well as topics that are going on in society today. Pastan focus more on marriage, parenting, and grief she is interested in the anxieties that exist under the surface of everyday life (Foundation). As for Olds her poetry is remarkable for its candor, eroticism, and its power to move (Foundation). Olds takes a path with her writings that not too many authors would take.
It is important for a company to know the differences in marketing products and services to these different targeted customers because every generation has slightly different preferences and values that makes them unique. For every generation they have similarities within that generation that a mass majority of them share. For example, For Generation Z, they all have a lot of technology at their fingertips and therefore they can easily get access to information. This makes them a lot smarter than a lot of previous generations at a young age because of their ability to access any type of information at any moment on their portable devices that they have had since they were young.
Also, multiple factors influence an individual to distance himself from his family, including abuse, betrayal, and poor parenting. As stated in the article, “Most of the participants said that their estrangements” “so they could tell you if they like it or not and tell you if you need to add needthing to it to make it better or leave it like it is or you meant not have to add need more Estrangement is not uncommon even in the best of families Assuming that every relationship between a parent and child will last a lifetime is as simplistic as assuming every couple will never split up. I do agree because parent and child will break up but parent can break up too but the child will not stay break up with their mother like the parents will because something will go wrong and they will need somebody to talk to about
After divorce, the parents are separated and the children don’t see their parents together anymore. Children also only have interaction with one parent at a time in some cases. Parents are the foundation of life for children, molding their child with each action they take or word they say into a unique individual. Half of marriages today end in separation or divorce leading to one of the parents, most commonly the father, leaving the home. Social interactions, confidence, morals, and a sense of self are all things people learn and develop from the relationships with their parents. A father’s absence can be profoundly influential on a child’s life, performance in school, mental and physical health, and social development can all be affected. Emotional health and development is central to all of the previously mentioned aspects, of an individual’s identity.
With divorce comes many negative reactions and coping mechanisms. Famous psychologist John Bowbly, who introduced the Theory of Attachment between parental figures and children when born, attributed two main emotions that come as a package when divorce is present: anger and hostility. Negative emotions are directly linked to how the adults in the situation handle the divorce. It is stated that if parental figures show anger and hostility before, after, and even during the divorce, the children involved will learn from their behavior and replicate it as a “normal model”. This is what Bandura called “The Social Learning Theory”.
Little children with divorced parents tend to throw more tantrums than those children of married parents. Children cry more often and are not as happy when their parents are divorced. This can lead to mental instability when the child becomes older, lower self-esteem which turns into bad behaviors. For instance, to run from the situation, the child will try hard to find the solution to make their feeling comfort. But, either it’s a negative or positive solution.
