Joe Foss has great responsibility because, he always knew what he needed to be done. He was always thinking one step ahead then what was planned. Tom Brokaw wrote a book called The Greatest Generation, about all the war heroes that took place in WWII; one of them mainly being Joe Foss. Joe Foss was always trying to do something and once said, “Combat is dangerous. It tends to interrupt your breathing process”.
The interview of Candy Clinkscale and Linda Snoddy was conducted via phone on June 3, 2018 for about an hour for each separate phone conversation. Both had lots of information to present to the researcher some aspects were similar between the two sisters and answers to other questions varied due to cultural differences. Subjects were asked a series of questions related to the psychological, economic,and social effects of widowhood. Both reported experiencing episodes of depression after the loss of their spouse. For Mrs. Clinkscale the depression is still occuring with reported feelings of hopelessness and anger.

In The Glass Castle, Rosemary and Rex Walls display a very uninvolved parenting style due to the many occasions they have neglected their children’s’ needs and put them in harm’s way. Some of the signs of an uninvolved parent are when they neglect their children’s personal needs, lack of communication and do not have very many demands. (Cherry, The Four Styles of Parenting.) The Walls children are always and have always looked after themselves and found ways to survive. The kids are always hungry and in constant need of food, but they are left to fend for themselves.
The Glass Castle is a memoir that was written by Jeannette Walls, who explains how within her childhood grew up extremely poor and had an alcoholic father, a mother who took advice from no one, and had three siblings, Brian , Lori, and Maureen. Rex and Rose Mary Walls show signs of being permissive or uninvolved parents by having very few demands, neglect to the children's needs, and letting their children make their own decisions. Throughout her memoir, Jeannette had multiple occasions were herself or her siblings would have to fend for themselves, because Rex or Rose Mary refused to hold on to a job. For example “When we wanted money, we walked along the roadside picking up beer cans and bottles that we redeemed for two cents each.”
Glass Castle Parenting Paradigms In The Glass Castle, a memoir by Jeanette Walls, Rex and Rosemary Walls most exemplify the permissive parenting style. From the very beginning of the memoir, Rex and Rosemary show that they aren’t too involved and “have very few demands to make of their children” (Cherry, “The Four Styles of Parenting”). Jeanette recalls an early memory of her childhood, “I was three years old… I was standing on a chair in front of the stove” (9).
The memoir, The Glass Castle, written by Jeannette Walls, has many conflicts between parents and children. Rex and Rose Mary Walls both have their good but also have a lot of bad and are incredibly irresponsible sometimes. They also neglect their children throughout the story, make poor decisions, and believe a lot in self-sufficiency. At the beginning of the book, Jeannette Walls is three years old cooking hot dogs all by herself. She is using the stove unsupervised at an extremely young age, with her mother in the other room focusing on her painting.
The theme of Pudd’nhead Wilson by Mark Twain is Nurture has a greater impact than Nature. Throughout the book, Twain shows this theme on several different occasions. On page 19 the text stated,”Tom got all the petting, Chambers got none. In consequence, Tom was a sickly child and Chambers wasn’t. Tom ‘fractious,’ as Roxy called it, and overbearing; Chambers was meek and docile.”

He describes the events that occurred in the middle of his Vietnam experience. The book was written to share his memories and O'Brien's own stories. I think the parents are to blame for their own deaths in "The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury because they let their kids get addicted and never disciplined them. “The Veldt” is about a high tech house and the kids abusing one of the devices in the house. Ray Bradbury’s “The Veldt” teaches readers that people are scared of change. In the short story, the parents feel like they have no use as a result of the Happylife Home taking care of the children by itself without the need for their parents. The parents dislike the change of not having to care for their own children, which causes them to feel useless. Although, some disagree and say that the main theme of the story is abandonment. The children were abandoned by their parents and nursery.

On occasion parents will stop the child’s fit by agreeing, but this is often viewed as a sign of bad parenting. Children these days can be extremely spoiled. It tends to be that if they ask for it, they get it. Children must learn that in the future they will have to work to buy what they desire.
