In chapter 13 of the Bully Boys FitzGibbon and Tommy went to search for Tommy’s dad. They went to where Tommy’s dad’s militia was supposed to be. Once they got there they didn’t find anyone.
In “How to Handle a Bully,” by Kathiann Kowalski, an experienced journalist, Kowalski reports the different strategies to stop bullying. She informs that bullying is at its peak in the late teenage years, but can start in an early age. Kowalski concurs that girls intimidates as much as boys; however, they do it differently. She explores many reasons why bullying occurs at the first place, and who starts bullying. Kowalski exemplifies the situations that victims could be in, and the solution on how to handle the bully.
This is only one of the hurtful things that the classmates said and did to Margot. At this point in the story the children are nasty to Margot. Paragraph 2: The children are jealous of Margot. “ ‘Aw you didn’t write that’ protested one of the boys’... ‘I did’ said Margot.
‘Tuesday of the Other June’ Bullied? “Tuesday of the Other June” by Norma Fox Mazer is a realistic fiction about a girl named June, who goes to her swim class every Tuesday and finds out someone has the same name as her. The other June does not like the fact that they have the same name. In the beginning, June was happy, she didn 't have to be worried about many things. June also had a great relationship, and was honest with, her mom. Soon, the other June comes along and ruins June’s happiness.
(Bradbury, 9). The use of personification is applied through the use of weather and emotion. The weather cannot portray real human emotions but it can symbolize anger and fury. The parallels between the children and the house are no mistake. The children’s raw emotions echo through the house, the environments in their lives only cater to them and their feelings.
The short stories “The White Circle” and “All Summer in a Day,” share a similar concept of how you should be careful who you trust, they could turn on you in the end. “The White Circle” focuses on a mutual hatred between Anvil and Tucker where's “All Summer in a Day” the other children don’t really turn on Margot until they lock her in the closet again. “All Summer in a Day” is about a group of young school children who live on Venus. One of the students’ names is Margot. She moved from Earth to Venus, wheres all the other children have lived on Venus their entire lives.
Bullying is a big issue in society. When authors put bullying into their books it helps people see that bullying is not unseen. In Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card the main character, Ender, gets bullied a lot throughout the book. At the beginning Ender gets his monitor taken out.
In “All Summer in a Day,” the children are thriving to see the sun, they would even be happy to just remember what the sun looks and feels like against their snowflake white skin. Margot, on the other hand does remember the sun and often talks about the bright light bulb that lights their planet once every seven years, to the others. However, there is a turning point when the children become jealous and treat Margot differently because to them she is set apart from them. " Hey, everyone, let’s put her in a closet before the teacher comes ! "
“ Heroes represent the best of ourselves, respecting that we are human beings. A hero can be anyone from Gandhi to your classroom teacher, anyone who can show courage when faced with a problem. A hero is someone who is willing to help others in his or her best capacity.” - Ricky Martin. There is one thing that these three characters or people from short stories or real life have in common, they are all considered heros.
In the bully a realistic fiction novel by Paul Langan, a high school student named Darrell Mercer that had recently moved from Philadelphia to California. In Philadelphia he had a friend named Mark he had fought all of his fights because Darrell was small and skinny kid. Then his mom found a better job in California. After they settled Darrell first day at school was really bad and he meet a bully that made his day really bad that he wish that he can move back. Langan used setting, characters, and plot to develop the theme of this novel.
In the dystopian story “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury, a group of young children living on Venus have never seen the sun, the endless rain and storms only give them one hour every seven years, and in all but one child’s memories have faded of the sun. The one other child was Margot, she came from Earth five years ago at the age of 4, she remembered the beauty we call the sun. The other children become greedy and jealous after years of Margot telling in small chunks about how she misses the sun and wishes for it to come back. The pure hatred for Margot from the other children makes them blind and rash enough to cause agonizing harm to Margot by shoving her in a closet while they enjoy the sun for the first time in their memorable life. While Margot waited for someone to let her out, the children “squinted at the sun until tears ran down their faces…put their hands up to that yellowness and that amazing blueness…breathed of the fresh, fresh air and listened and listened to the silence which suspended them in a blessed sea of no sound and no motion”. Descriptive and full of figurative language, this piece is the best yet. If only Margot were there…I can’t wait to see her
In life we can all relate to the feeling of longing for something. In All Summer in a Day, Ray Bradbury’s characters’ lives are clouded with rain and the only see the sun once every seven years. Bradbury uses metaphors, emotions, and repetition to express the sun’s meaning of hope to the main character, Margot, and the children of rocket men and women on Venus. Metaphors and emotions are used to help the reader relate to the connection with the sun. He describes the sun and the rain using metaphors, and uses the children’s emotions to help further the idea.
I would imagine the bullied student to feel upset, sad, or even angry, knowing that mean comments were going around on the internet about the person. The story "All Summer in a Day" impacts many lives and informs people that bullying is a problem that needs to stop, which makes it more important that this story has to be taught to students again next year.
