Who really killed Paret? Was it his opponent Emile Griffith who punched Paret into a medical coma? was it the referee who failed to stop the match in time to save Paret's life? Or was it Paret himself, feeding his opponent's anger? These are the questions that come to mind, making people us think of the cause of Paret death. People might blame Paret opponent because it is the most logical cause of Paret's death. Clouded with judgement, they fail to realize that the death of Paret is much more than just a brute beating Paret into the corner of the ring. Griffith started out as a delivery boy at the age of 15. At his job, Griffith met his trainer Howie Albert. One day, Howie saw Griffith without his shirt and was astonished at his body. So Howie goes to Griffith and asks him," do you want to come to the gym with me?" And Griffith accepted Howie's offer.Howie and Griffith went to the gym and there Howie saw that Griffith had a hidden talent for boxing. From there on, Griffith became Howie's student. Griffith was actually pretty good at boxing. He was so skillful that he became well known. Griffith won most of the fight he had, which lead him to the championship finals. This is where Griffith and Paret met for the first time. April 1, 1961, at the Miami beach, was the first match they had with each other. Griffith won the match and was announced the golden belt champion. But what became of Paret? Paret lost a lot he lost fame, money, and his dream, so Paret knew he had to do something and he did. Paret asks for a rematch. To me, Paret was the kind of guy who could not let go of things. I think because he had this grudge it lead Paret to his death.
