In the novel Parvana which is written by Deborah Ellis and was set in Afghanistan has many different changes that occur. These changes lead to many different events that have big impacts on many different people who already have a lot going on in their lives. The changes that transpire include how Parvana’s father who was taken to prison a kept there for a large portion of his and his family’s life. Another change in the novel is for the mother. The change Parvana’s mother encountered was that her husband was taken to jail and she had to go through pain and depression but she let it go. “Parvana was very different...” Parvana went through a whole lot of change in this novel because she went from being a young girl who was educated and had a good life to being a person who had to change their physical appearance just to provide her family with food. “Parvana was one of the lucky ones”. Parvana was lucky because her parents were educated and they supported school for girl but most Afghans were not like this. Parvana was never meant to be outside “The Taliban had ordered all the girls in Afghanistan to stay inside their homes”. Parvana had changed in her thoughts as well because changing into a boy made her more confident towards others. Parvana’s changes came about all because of thing and that one thing really what created all this change. The one thing is obviously her father who was taken to prison.
The novel Parvana is a novel never to be forgotten because all of different but interesting occasions. This book gives us an insight in what life in Afghanistan would be like for people under control of the Taliban and there silly rules. Change is very common in this book but this change is different somehow the change in this book is real and it’s not fake they don’t sugar code anything they just do what’s meant to be done and that’s it.
