Passion:
Nursing is a profession that is dedicated to meeting different health care needs of community and population, caring for the patients with devotion and compassion. Nursing is much more than just giving medications and attending to the needs of patients, in our time with the extension of the role of the nurse and the diversity of the nursing profession, defining a professional nurse is becoming complex.
My personal, spiritual and cultural beliefs revolve around my origin. I was raised and born in Russia, in most difficult for a country time. It was engraved in my brain that I should give it my best in everything. In Russia nursing was not very prestige or well -paid job. I call it a spiritual reward for care. It is my passion to make nursing a respectable profession. I hope that my skills and experience have a part of play in the recovery of patients I am working with, and will be enough of satisfaction to see that very sick patients overcome their illness and walk out of the hospital alive at the time when there was doubt.
A variety of values and beliefs are influencing my nursing practice. Each person has own values which form due to observation, reasoning and experience. This is her decision, which is not right for me but I have to respect it.
But very important to understand her reasoning, may be it is due insufficient of knowledge or may be due denial. Ethics committees will help to make the final decision and will take in consideration patients wishes, cultural beliefs and the expected outcomes in the best patient interest. Code of Ethics is very helpful guidelines which will help us to move in the right directions. My motivation: I fell that I was born to be a nurse. I feel so satisfied when not only I can save lives and prevent errors but also when my emotional support and genuine sympathy can alleviate suffering and distress. It is not easy to find a trustworthy, honest and kind person in our time and working with sick individuals who trust you and entirely depend on your skills and humanity make me proud for my job.
