What lives dies. One way or the other. This has been the law since the beginning of time.
Some have managed to delay death longer than others, but in the end, they still had no choice but to give way to death for it is absolute.
Since time immemorial people have been trying to reach for the heavens and beyond. Unfortunately, heavens are ruthless and those who defy it are mercilessly struck down.
Yet there are some who survive these tribulations and push onwards with eternal life as their hope and ultimate aspiration.
Those people are called Magi. The path of Magi is not for everyone as only those with a strong mentality and expansive minds can just barely take the first step on this arduous path.

However, the very resources needed for this such as the precious herbs and roots were very rare and grew only in places naturally rich in arcane energy, which were more often than not dangerous places in the wilderness.
The main reason for these places being so dangerous and unconquered were the beasts living in these locations. Not only did these arcanum rich grounds nurture alchemy herbs but also the fauna, with normal animals turning into ferocious beasts and even attracting some of the more rare beasts such as ground dragons or white tigers.
In this world were no countries or kingdoms. There were three gigantic cities each presiding over countless smaller villages and towns around them.
Even though each of the cities is trying to expand, it is not quite so easy because on one side are the borders of the other cities while on the side is the endless wilderness full of dreadful beasts. The further you go into the wilderness the more powerful the beasts become. People speculate that this is because of the natural higher arcanum concentration there. Dark Crow was his favorite game nickname so he did not hesitate to enter it when he was prompted to select a name but seeing it now left him feeling a bit embarrassed.
But he swiftly put that thought to the back of his mind as he focused on the choices he was presented with. As far as he knew, this was the only opportunity he would get to pick an ability.
After carefully reading through them, he eliminated the common and uncommon ones as they didn't seem like anything special. There would always be tons of people in the world who were powerful or agile or even charming.
But this was a world of Magi it seemed, so the epic Arcane Sense ability was very appealing.
The Quick Witted ability seemed very pleasant as well, after all the only reason humankind was able to rise above all other species on earth was thanks to their intellect and the rare Quick Witted ability seemed to be improving
