I’ve selected a Doctor’s Patient Database System for the fourth artifact to meet the recommend system design and maintenance solutions that meets organizational needs with appropriate applications and tools. I create this database project on April 23, 2015, as a final project for the Database and Project Design Document Class that I took. The final project was to build and design a database while using Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL). The project was an idea to streamline medical paper records, appointments, visits, billing, and contacting insurance companies under one management system. The idea to convert paper to a paperless system will not only save money for the hospital or clinic, but also benefit the environment. Other …show more content…

To implement a database in Microsoft SQL while evaluating database implementation issues and database administration. The database system that was create reflects the outcome of an organizational solution of a system design and maintenance while using appropriate tools such as SQL and other terminology associated with normalization. It’s not just the using of Microsoft SQL, but the comprehension of the different degrees of normalization, relational models, and how to approach all the data and group them accordantly. I learned how to use SQL program, and the three degrees, the first normal form (1NF), second normal form (2NF), and the third normal form (3NF). The issues that I ran into was learning the difference between entity-relational diagram and normalization entity diagram because modeling is first, so it gives you time to think on how the tables are related to each other and to envision other tables that would be required. Another issue was the testing and seeing that some table were not linking to another, and going back to fix the errors in the system. If I could do a follow-up or a modification to this project I think I would change some the record and drug tables, and link the insurance table with patient table since most patients would keep the same insurance
