In the film some reporters would criticize Patrice Lumumba, and some would give him his due. The film is a documentary of Lumumba’s life and everything he has achieved and how the voice of Lumumba was silenced for good. Lumumba had a vision for Belgium in which his aim was to decolonize Belgium and the future of Belgium and he mainly were a voice for independence and liberty especially for the Negroes. He did give hope to many people but because Lumumba was supported by many and had an entourage, the Europeans knew that they needed to do something to him, to silence him for good and thus was he murdered but his body was never found. In the film a reporter stated that journalist couldn’t support Lumumba even if they did, they couldn’t have write about him. Reasons being because they cannot support someone “who advocates Belgium’ s departure” . The policy of Belgium also played a role why Lumumba was silenced. If Lumumba wanted to rest or if he did take a rest, then he was the cause of all the social issues that was currently present during that time. If any harm did come to the people it was Lumumba’s fault because according to the documentary it was stated that “it is his fault if there is a rebellion, if women are raped, etc… it’s because of his speeches, the MNC politics…in fact it was the doing of the force publique” . The force publique led that the Belgians left country in which Lumumba was totally against it. In the documentary it was stated that Lumumba was later broke and without executives, administration and an army and thus was he forced to call in the help of the UN in which “they will come, and he will regret it”
