Paul Revere was a respected silversmith and avid colonialist that showed his courage and valorousness to the American people by giving them his knowledge and leadership. Paul Revere was born on New Year’s Day 1735, on a shipping wharf in North End Boston. Paul was the third out of twelve children, and eventually the eldest surviving son. Revere attended North End Writing School where he learned reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Most boys were finished with school when they become teenagers, then it was time to learn a trade or job. Most teenage boys at the time learned to be apprentices.
At thirteen years old, Paul left school to become and apprentice to his father,
Apollos Rivoire, Where he learned the trade of silversmithing.
His work as a silversmith made him renowned with many people in Boston, serving him well when he became active in the Revolution.When he was a teenager he and his friends became bell ringers for the Old North Church. This was an important role it told the people when something was happening. Unfortunately, in 1754 when he was 19 years old, Paul’s Father died, before Paul was the legal age to be the master of his father’s shop. Paul had to make enough money to pay rent and buy clothes in food for his family. And worked hard in his father’s shop. One tax was called the Stamp Act that said all the colonists had to pay a tax on all business papers such as will and newspaper. Britain also began to tax the colonists tea which made them very angry. Paul Revere was known as a Patriot because he believed along with many other people that Britain was wrong. In 1765, an organization called the “Sons Of Liberty,” formed, and Paul was a leader of this secret organization. . He produced engravings and other artifacts that held political themes.
