December 7, 1941, is a day all Americans remember. It seemed like a normal Sunday, until people heard planes pass by. That was the first attack America ever had.
Japan and the United States had been in a huge disagreement. In 1932, the Japanese emperor decided to invade Manchuria. In the following years, Japan took over China in 1937. In response, President Roosevelt moved the US Pacific fleet from California to Pearl Harbor. Pearl Harbor is in Hawaii. It became the US Navy base and airfield. But what were the reasons Japan attacked Pearl Harbor? Japan attacked Pearl Harbor for the following reasons; they had planned a “new world order’ to rule the world, the U.S began an oil embargo against them, and US Navy was about to expand. Japan is an island in East Asia, near the Pacific Ocean. It was known for it’s world wide invasion and it’s powerful army. with oil, U.S Naval expansion, and with Japan planning to take over the world. Manchuria is located in China.

Japan took over many small islands in the Pacific such as Manchuria, China, the Philippines, Taiwan, Tonking, Peking, Shanghai, and Hong Kong (Doc B). Japan established a puppet state in Manchuria in 1932. A puppet state is controlling a state or country by another state or country done in secret. In 1938, Japan declares it’s policy to establish a “new order” in East Asia (Doc C). The “new order” that Japan announced in 1938 was to make East Asia’s power fall so that Japan could take East Asia over (Doc C). To make sure they could take over the world, Japan had to take the U.S down to prove that they are more powerful by taking countries and states
