People Fight Against Animal Rights

Many people fight for animal rights. They demand that animal testing should be banned. They think that it is very unethical and wasteful. With the development of technologies, people think that animal testing is archaic, and there are many alternative ways. Often animal testing fails, and it is cruel to play with their lives. However; animal testing saves not only lots of people's lives, but also animals’ too. It is very important and even necessary for having a healthy environment, without diseases. It is unethical to keep animals in laboratories and make them suffer from pain. However, animal research is highly regulated with laws, and any unjustified action will not take place during the testing. All proposals to use animals for research must be approved by an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) set up by each research facility. Researchers are under the surveillance by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC). They should be considered equal with man. Traditionally, people thought that they are superior, and animals are just food. However, Singer says that women and black people also had issues with superiority; they were treated like second-class citizens, or even worse. As we know traditionally they were discriminated, they were considered not smart; so why is that now they have equal rights with other people? If they have equal rights then why animals cannot? (Singer, 1989). However, as I have mentioned before, animals do not have cognitive abilities. They cannot learn our human languages and express their thoughts.
