For my mystery book talk, I read Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. This book takes place in Cairnholm which is an island off of the UK. The main character, Jacob, finds a loop that lets him go back in time to September 3, 1940. He uses the loop to go back and forth from the present to the past and back to the present. I realized that the leathery thing was the apple. . . When I tried to pick it up it crumbled in my hand like a clump of soil” (Riggs 204). This example of suspense works very well for the story because it shows that a living thing that came through the loop from the past died overnight, and this indicates that something would happen to the children if they passed through the time loop. In conclusion, the author adds a lot suspense in this
