The road to death is filled with highs and lows grab a few friends and make the highs greater than the lows, breath though the lows and keep moving towards a better tomorrow. In the novel Perks of Being A Wallflower and the movie My Girl both main characters are greatly impacted by death of a close family member. This causes them to be social outcast,have family issues and feel the loss of close friends more deeply. Being a social outcast is a common but difficult thing. A social outcast is a person has been rejected by others for being different.Charlie is picked on for being different and for the mental breakdown he had the year before. In The Perks of Being a Wallflower Charlie talks about when he heard Michael had shot himself he cried and did not remember much other than his brother had to come pick him up from school how in the guidance counselor session he started screaming at the counselors because he did not understand why Michael would not talk to him. When Vada first heard of Thomas Jay’s death and how he died she ran straight to the doctor and complained about being unable to breath and the bee stings hurting which was the same way Thomas Jay died. During Thomas J's funeral Vada ran up to his casket very upset and saying all things she and Thomas Jay were going to do together and what he was going to be when he grew up and asked where his glasses were. When she was told he was gone and was dead not coming back she ran out of her house and stayed away for a long time crying before finally returning home.
