This quarter I read Eragon. This book taught me multiple lessons. Including, perseverance pays off and times used to be different/more difficult. In the beginning of the book Eragon’s uncle is brutally murdered and his farm is burned down. His parents are dead, so his uncle was all he had. He doesn’t give up, instead he runs away from the town with Brom and goes on an adventure. On that adventure he learns how to sword fight and how to use magic. Also, he gains a strong connection with Brom and learns to trust him with his life. When Brom is killed, he is heartbroken. He gives him the best burial possible and covers his grave in diamond. When Murtagh comes along he doesn’t trust him and he never learns to. Eragon travels constantly and never has time to slow down and wonder about his family or anyone else. …show more content…

If Eragon would have given up, he wouldn’t have made it to The Varden and wouldn’t have gained the connection with Brom. In today’s world, perseverance is necessary. If you give up on every challenge you will be unsuccessful in life. People with perseverance can do almost anything and overcome any challenge. When I first read this book I didn’t pay attention to the message of Eragon. When I started to think about it it made me realize I don’t try my best on some challenges. Sometimes I do the bare minimum to get the grade and get it over with. After reading this book I realize I need to try my hardest on everything I do, even if it’s
