In the passage Making Sarah Cry also in Don't Give Up the Fight, they both show perseverance because even though they are both getting bullied they both keep trying their hardest but people still made fun of them and teased them. In Don't Give Up The Fight, Ava was playing in a league. In Making Sarah Cry, Sarah was playing at recess time in an elementary school. Even though the theme was the same the characters actions were different.
When Ava was getting teased she tried to ignore the boys who were teasing her so she didn't say anything but it still affected her. This shows perseverance because she kept going to the track meets even though she was getting bullied. In the middle, she talked with Lindsay but they did not really do anything until they went to the final race. Ava won the race but Jacob said he didn't see it. If she beat him to the tree 100 yards away then he would believe her. When Ava finally said yes they started the race. When Ava was starting to pass him he pushed her onto her back she fell and fractured her wrist.

Ava finally got help from Lindsay because she told her all of the problems that she was having in track as in Making Sarah Cry the boy got into a car crash, once he came back to school his homeroom greeted him with balloons and welcome back’s but, when he went outside they started to make fun of him because his leg was gimpy and he had a scar on his face. But after a few minutes of his friends teasing him, Sarah came out and told the other boys to stop because she was my friend. This is important because even though he was one of the boys who was bullying her she came along and stood up for him which shows that she did have a heart.
