Personal Essay: A Career In California

I was born on July 07, 1985 in San Jose, California to my parents Lonnie McIntosh and Suzie DeGrandmont. I spent his childhood and adolescent years in the Sacramento area. As a child, I competed in several archery tournaments and won the California State Championship five times. I also enjoyed bow hunting with my father.

In my high school years, I jumped around between 3 different high schools in the area. I wasn’t most behaved teenager on the block. I eventually landed at Galt High School my sophomore year. There I was an avid wrestler, not very good, but enjoyed the team environment, the hard work ethic it imparted in myself and the tough love from my head coach Mr. Tosta.
On September 11th, 2001, as we all know, terrorist attacked the world trade center. I was a junior at that time. I really didn’t have any idea what to think of the events that had transpired, at least until my senior year of high school. From September 2001 to March of 2003, much of the news and television was consumed by the war in Afghanistan and the rising tensions with Iraq. By this time, I came to realize that I need to do something for my country, you know that how can I help kinda attitude, but I was really unsure how. While Cowboy, was taking his test SFC B. approached me and asked if I was willing to take the test while I was waiting. “You might as well. He's gonna be busy for a while and you're just sitting here. Give it a shot.”. And at that point he had me. I sat down, took the test and scored well enough to be placed in any job position I pleased within the military. After the test, cowboy and I compared test score.
