“Why can’t we get into our freaking offense!?” This is all I really remember from Coach McKendrick at halftime last year against Niles North in what was a tough night for our basketball team. Prior to this, we beat New Trier at home and then went on the road and beat the pre-season unanimous vote to win conference, Highland Park, in our first conference game. While the rules of basketball have changed a lot over the past 70 years, certain decades brought about more changes to the sport. During the 1960s, there was only one rule changed in NBA and one rule changed in college basketball. There was a good chunk of rules changed in the 1950s. One of the main changes that happened was that in 1964 the court widened from 12 to 18 feet which is a major change to the court style (Irvine). Also, from 1967 to 1977 a rule for dunking was enacted in college basketball to prevent injuries and harm on the court, but it was released later (“Basketball Basics Evolution of the Game”).

Basketball was my life. In my first home game of my Sophomore year, on the Varsity team, I was voted the game MVP. But it was during the game, when I jumped up to catch a loose ball, and came down, that I landed wrong and fell on my knee. After the game, my mom drove me straight to the ER, and the doctor told me that my ACL was torn and my MCL was fractured. I went through a very painful surgery, and six months of physical therapy.
But soccer was invented in 4500 BC. It wasn’t exactly “soccer”, but somewhere along the lines of that. Soccer has been around way longer. But basketball is still better. First of all, basketball requires a lot of skills.
Sports teach life skills like how to deal with stress, as stress is something everyone gets, and learning it and how to deal with it at early ages is an important life skill. Another reason is that sports also
Air ball— again. My form was lost, coordination gone, and so was my patience. I’ve stopped playing basketball for 3 months mainly because of school work and things going on in my life. I wanted to get out of there quick so I could get playing my basketball. I got to my room and got dressed and pulled out my cool kicks, they were my basketball shoes. I got them tied on pretty tight.
Basketball in my opinion the best thing I can do with my friends to have fun while burning a few calories. I see basketball as a fun and easy way to have fun rather than sitting on the couch all day playing video games or watching television. One reason I love basketball is because you need only yourself to play the game or, you can play with teammates. I prefer to have others to play with rather than just playing alone. To me there is not only one word that I can describe basketball.
