When teachers provide enough care for their students, they are capable of helping even the emotionally distressed. When their students perceive that they are being cared for, they gain a sense of trust for these teachers and would be compelled to speak about what is truly bothering them. An example of this is clearly represented through the novel Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. The ninth-grade protagonist, Melinda Sordino, had luckily enrolled herself into an art class with a truly altruistic teacher by the name of Mr. Freeman. Melinda had become more demure and wan after she was raped over the summer by an errant student in the twelfth grade identified as Andy Evans.

Hello my fellow classmates, my name is Kelsie Dessent. When I 'm not living in my dorm at Husson University, I live in Fairfield, Maine with my family. I have my very own dog, that is a Yorkie Shitzu, and his name is Rico. Rico is my absolute best friend. As a freshman here at Husson, my major is Health Sciences with a Pre-Med track.
Each morning Dr. Kelly Pivik wakes up at 5:30a.m. to prepare herself and Spenser, her only son, for a typical day at the University of West Alabama, where she is an assistant professor of Psychology. While at work, she spends majority of her time between class preparations, research, meetings, and she occasionally finds time for lunch. After she’s done working, Dr. Pivik and Spenser depart Livingston to commute back to their home in Tuscaloosa.
By the end of the semester I had become far more confident with the material, and I had not received another thirty percent on a quiz. One day after class, Ms. Barnett asked if I wanted to stay after school once a week to help her organize the lab. I was excited that she had noticed how I had disciplined myself as a student in her class, and happily agreed to do so. As the year progressed, I developed an academic and personal bond with her; similar to the bond I had to my grandfather.
High school was a roller coaster ride for me, from the endless fun of parties to the minor breakdowns and panic attacks that would land myself in the hospital. The pressure and stress got to me and the fact that failing out of the school that I’ve been going to for twelve years with long life friends was coming to an end. Now that I look back at it though it might have been the best decision for my well-being because then I would of not been able to meet the people that I met at Chamblee Charter High School. You would think moving from a private to a public school would be a big cultural shock, you are very correct. Atlanta International School, which was the school I went for basically my whole life, was a very open minded, well rounded, and accepting establishment since the most of the students where from all over the world.

We immediately learned to welcome the 21 other ‘secrets to life’ in the classroom, and both appreciate and empathize with other 's ideas and stories. About three weeks into the semester our English class was to partake in an empathy interview. In this interview, each student selected and sat across from a classmate in which they may not be ‘close’ with, and asked them questions regarding who they are. The selection of questions varied throughout the classroom, but regardless needed to further the classmates understanding of one another. After concluding the interview, I found that the most captivating element throughout was the ability to compare my story and ‘secret to life’ with my partners.
Many different leadership positions are available at Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School, giving students a wonderful opportunity to get involved in something they enjoy. There are even various places to take internships, including outside and inside of the school district. I’ve taken part in a few of these wonderful opportunities, including becoming a leader in choir, managing boy’s track, and being a teacher’s assistant through an internship at my high school. At the end of my freshman year in high school, I was elected to take a leadership class, making me able to lead a part in our choir the following year.
All my life, I have I lived in Texas and considered it my home; however, I have a difficult time pinpointing exactly where “home” is, considering I’ve moved four times. I am more of a displaced resident than anything else. Being exposed to many different communities and circles of friends, I’ve been forged into the resilient person I am today. At Faubion Elementary in Austin, I didn’t have any real friends there, and consequently, barely remember attending.
Consequently, I am committed to make my parents proud thus I have established several challenging objectives such as: to graduate with honor, to academically thrive in college and to finish in 4-years. I also desire to conduct research, to study aboard and to earn A’s during my first freshman quarter. Coming from a difficult high school experience I want to penetrate my timid and insecure boundaries and make friends, in hopes to reach my composite goal, to leave a memorable landmark at UCI and to create unforgettable experiences with others. 2. One time I came across failure. It all started when playing in a baseball game for Serra High School. Up to that game we had been undefeated in league play. As the game moved along it got more and more intense. Every batter and runner on base you could tell both teams were completely focused on winning that game.
1. Describe the skills or attributes you believe are necessary to be an outstanding teacher. Being an outstanding teacher goes beyond acquiring the competence and knowledge to deliver rigorous academic instruction to a diverse group of students. Outstanding teachers possess a multitude of qualities making them unique and unforgettable to the children they serve. I believe that outstanding teachers are passionate, inspired, creative, compassionate, patient and understanding.
Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
