Personal Essay: Music Analysis

Music plays a crucial role in my everyday life. Ever since I was an infant, I have been interested in music. In this essay, I will be focusing on the music genres that I like and how they affect my life. Since, I do not listen to only one music genre, my tastes are fragmented into several categories. I will categorize them by the main themes addressed in the songs. Numerous songs are about upheaval, others are of melancholy, and a couple are about love. Throughout, this work, I will also give examples of bands that focus on each specific topic. The bands’ music directly influences my comportment. First, I will start describing the rebellious bands. Only few bands speak of insurgent themes. The bands that I will use as examples are “Rise Against” and “Green Day”. The way these bands alter my conduct is severe. I always feel a bit rebellious and work my way. Occasionally, I feel as if I can infuse a change to the system. For depression I have many bands to choose from. Both bands mentioned in the previous paragraph are adequate for this category as well. For this category, I will choose “My Chemical Romance”, and “Linking Park”. “Linking Park” is not mainly about despair, but its themes are not happy, and it does have its gloomy themes. Listening to these songs really impacts my life, but they don’t sadden me. I cannot be downed just by listening to these bands, but if I am unhappy when I listen to them, it accentuates my feelings. Normally, when someone feels sorrowful, he or she wants to forget and become cheerful again, but I would rather try to feel as desolate as possible until I learn to live with it.
