My personal narrative. “Keep all hands and feet inside the cart at all times, and do not forget to look at the camera and smile” stated the ride operator at Busch Gardens. As the seatbelts made a “clink” I could feel my heart racing. I never thought that I would ride Sheikra which is one of the fastest rides at that amusement park going at an estimated speed of seventy miles per hour. With every curve my heart pounded, but I loved the adrenaline rush that I felt. Rollercoasters reminds me of my first time in America, it reminds me of the weakness that I had to overcome as a child and it reminds me of the future that I want for my life. When I was little I would always doubt myself and tell myself that I could never do anything, that I would not amount to anything important, and that I was not good enough. “I can do all things through Christ who strengths me” is a bible verse that I would always recite to myself when I wanted to overcome doubt. There is a saying that most people often say and that is, “garbage in, garbage out.” And since I was speaking negativity into my spirit, I allowed myself to become negative, full of anger and hatred. I had to learn to try. Not trying because I was afraid was already failing. But because I tried, and although I did not succeed at first was alright because at least I tried. I could not continue to tell myself that I could not do it unless I gave it a shot. I had to take chances. That is why I decided to ride that humongous rollercoaster, called Sheikra. I wanted to overcome my doubt and fear. As one drop finished, the rollercoaster rode up and start going at an amazing speed which made me suddenly visualize my future. Lastly, as the rollercoaster raced at an amazing speed up it made me think about what I wanted for my future. I want to take risks and challenge myself. I wanted to live my life to the fullest. There is another saying which states that “the sky is the limit”, but there is something wrong with that saying because the sky has no limits. Which means that opportunities for my life are limitless. In America I can do whatever it is I set my mind to. I can and should become whoever I aspire to become.
