In sixth grade I began to play golf after I received my first set of golf clubs for my birthday. I immediately went to the driving range to try out my new clubs. When I hit my first good golf shot I fell in love with the game. I began to start practicing on a daily basis and I also decided to start participating in tournaments. When the spring of my freshman year came around, I tried out for the golf team. Not knowing what to expect, I tried my hardest during tryouts hoping to get a spot on the Junior Varsity team. To my surprise, the coach told me that I would be the only freshman playing on the Varsity team. I was very excited to get a taste of what competing at the varsity level would be like. Eventually I worked my way up to a starting position on varsity, thanks to the support and teachings of the upperclassmen. Although I didn’t always have the lowest score, I took pride in being one of the most consistent competitors on our varsity golf team as a freshman. The following year, three of the seniors on the golf team graduated. After being one of the top performers on the golf team my freshman year, my coach thought I deserved the number one spot on the team. This spot allowed me to develop my leadership and communication. I helped set an example for players on the team and set a bar for the rest of the team to reach. At practice, I would give advice to those who asked for it and always left others feeling positive so they could perform their best. I would be a great addition to the campus because of my ability to communicate and help
