Rodeo has helped me grow up. Since third grade I went from going to rodeos with my family to chasing the white lines on my own. I have had numerous opportunities presented to me from rodeo such as being on tv for qualifying for Worlds, traveling all the way to New Mexico and Wyoming to compete, and being rodeo queen for Southern Indiana Junior Rodeo Association. My parents took care of my horses for me. They cleaned stalls, fed them day and night, and packed the trailer for each rodeo.
The Horrors of Auschwitz The Holocaust, which started in 1933 and continued to 1945 was an awful time where Jews were murdered and sent to concentration camps to die. In Poland one of the largest concentration camps, Auschwitz, where 1.3 million people died. Auschwitz, the death camp, was a horrible place where many people died, lost hope, and were stripped of civilization all because of their religion and race.
I ran in my middle school’s track team for two years. I ran the mile, one hundred meter dash and triple jump. Out of all the events I participated in I absolutely despised the mile, I hated the aftermath the most. The feeling of my lungs burning, legs aching from the long run and the heavy asthmatic breathes. Although the mile had several cons, I loved the challenge and I was too stubborn to quit.
In life, even though we are told not to do so, a lot of us “count our chickens before they hatch”. We make assumptions on things before they happen because we believe that if something seems so likely, it will happen. Well, that is what my Liberty High School cross country team did my sophomore year. Going into the year, we not only knew we were going to be strong, we thought other teams were going to be weak. The top teams from the state finals the previous year had all lost most of their key pieces.
I grew up in a rodeo family, my parents did it, my grandparents did it, even my great grandparents did it. I have been on a horse, well, since before I was born. I have had a rope in my hand since I knew how to walk. I even won my first buckle when I was three, my first saddle when I was five, and won a trailer when I was eight. I was the best around.
African-Americans faced a tremendous amount of discrimination between 1950 and 1970. Even to this day, discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, and gender is still a continuation of a problem that was prominent in the 50’s and 60’s. A problem in the 50’s and 60’s was the segregation applied to schools, where African-Americans were not permitted to go to a White-only school. Thankfully, in July of 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which prohibited discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, and gender and gave all citizens the right to enter public establishments. To this day, this act gives young African-Americans all across America the chance at a normal school life without being hassled by
Cross country is also a great way to stay in shape if your sports season is over or you just want to stay healthy. It's also very important to eat good foods before and after the race and stretch when you're
The only time I can think of when I had grit was at a cross country meet. A few days before the meet I couldn’t breathe very well, and my stomach hurt a lot. At first, I thought it was just nerves and excitement for the race, which was at Starmont. For that race I was on varsity and as soon as we started the race and got into pace, I knew something was very wrong. I was wheezing and it was agonizing to try and breathe, I thought I was having a heart attack.
My breath was heavy, legs numb, I was ready to give up, ready to quit. But as I saw the finish line and fellow sabers encouraging me, I knew I had to finish. For the team, for the coach, and for me. It all started near the end of sixth grade. Mr. Miller announced that we could use the time to sign up for fall sports that we wanted to do the following year in middle school.
"Horseback riding is easy! All you have to do is sit there while the horse does all the work. " Anybody who says this has obviously never ridden a horse professionally and deserves to be beaten for saying something so stupid. My experience as an English rider has been one of blood, sweat, and tears (literally) but also one of love and growth.
Running is not only physical, however, it is also the most mentally tough sports out there, which is not something that most people know. Sports like soccer and volleyball are team sports and although cross country is as well to some extent, cross country is actually a race against yourself. Cross country is all about racing against time and most importantly yourself. A runner will do only as well as he or she want to, if you want it enough then you can achieve it.
My passion for track and field began with a Nike advertisement. At age ten, I opened the newspaper to a two-page spread of the hometown distance running legend Steve Prefontaine overlaid by a paragraph of inspirational copy. It concluded asking, “Where is the Next Pre?” The story of his small town Oregon roots, gutsy racing style, and ambition to be the best resonated with me like nothing ever had before. I told myself I was the next Pre, and then tore off for my first run through the streets of Eugene, Oregon – “Tracktown USA”.
All things in life can be enjoyable but also unexpected. Everyone has their own natural high. My natural high is riding my dirt bike. Even though riding my dirt bike is fun, it can also be very dangerous. It is very important to always wear safety gear while operating an off-road vehicle.
It just like every other sport out there. One plus side to running is it could help you stay in shape today and in the future. The following will be included in this story: What perfect form is, breathing techniques, types of warm ups, how to eat, different events you can participate in, and different tips to help.
It was quite Monday in spring, a normal day but for me and my team it was a big day. It was the day we started training for the important race; the race decide which track team was the best in the city. My teammates are, George, Aron and Dylan. We have been working hard because we lost the championship last year it would be good for us to come out this year and win the championship.
