It started on the first day of scout camp in early June of the year 2015. Our troop had consisted of about twelve scouts all of them pumped up and excited to get the scout camp kicked off and get going. The cycling merit badge was the one we had all come for because all of us, except a few, thought this one was much better than hiking so we stuck with it. The first day was definitely the hardest. On that day we chose to travel a ten or twelve mile trail thick with rocks, steps, loose sticks, and small streams running through the area. Neither of our leaders had ever rode the trail before so we didn’t know where to go. This was probably not a good idea in the first place. One road went really steep up and the other was more of a hill leading down somewhere unknown to us. Using a GPS from Bryan Paxton we found that the main road we were aiming for was in the direction of the steep trail so we took our best bet and headed up the looming mountain ahead of us. Once at the base, Cory got to lead again and he did not like the idea of powering up the mountain on his bike because, he hadn’t done so on even the smallest hills that you could coast up and over, so he decided to walk it up the mountain. Everyone else wanted to power through this obstacle but since Cory was in front it was out of the question. Walking up the mountain put us in more strain than would have happened if we had biked because it exhausted our arms and legs at the same time and was much harder. After about an hour of constant uphill madness we came to the conclusion we had taken the wrong road and had wasted time and energy going uphill for some
