Personal Narrative: The Day I Got My First Car

I still remember the day I got my first car. It was one of the most exciting, yet terrifying days of my life. I remember my mom asking me where I was because I was in school that day and began to freak out because she told me that I was going to get a car soon. The moment I saw my new car was breathtaking. What I was seeing before me was beyond even my imagination for what I wanted. I was expecting a complete run-down, beat up, almost lifeless vehicle, instead they got me a brand new to me Ford fusion. At the time being the most beautiful car, I’ve ever seen in my life with her bright pearlescent paint job and new alloy rims. It was the perfect surprise for a sixteen-year-old. My first impression of the car just based on what I was seeing was a pure shock. The paint felt as smooth as fresh snow on a mountaintop. It felt almost cool to the touch even though the sun had been hitting it all day. Once I finally gripped the handle to open the door it’s almost as if it gripped my hand back, welcoming me to slide the door open and step inside. Slipping through the doors opening and seeing the sleek black interior made from leather filled me with a new-found pride. The inside felt like a warm blanket being wrapped around my entire body. Just the thought of “I finally have a car of my own” is the only thing I could keep thinking. No longer did I have to borrow my parent’s cars or ask my friends for rides. I could take myself from point A to B. Rubbing the steering wheel all over pretending to drive it like it wasn’t my own car and I couldn’t just start it myself and go, so that is exactly what I did.
