Cody Williams vs Tony Gwynn: A Comparison of Failures Anthony Keith Gwynn, if I were to say his full name like that most people wouldn’t know who I was talking about, but if I were to say Tony Gwynn then it is a whole different story. Yes, I am talking about the Tony Gwynn who played for the San Diego Padres, and later become one of the most decorated baseball players of all time. Yet, just because he was such a successful baseball doesn’t man he never failed. His failures are what made the man so successful, and just like me I failed quite often. The game of baseball is full of failures, one being a persons batting percentage.
Sophomore year I was playing at a soccer tournament with my old team. I was playing a great game even though the score was not reflecting my hard work. Towards the end of the game I jumped up caught the ball landed, my body went one way and my legs went the other, then I fell to the ground. Everyone around me had heard a pop, I knew it was my ACL. From this moment in my soccer career I knew I needed to be determined and to be focused on my recovery in order to get back out there.
My ACL Tear Journey At The Hospital A quick turn on a soccer field led me to the worst experience in my life. A while back in my sophomore year I tore my ACL while I was practicing for my first soccer game of the school year. I made a quick turn without positioning my feet correctly on the ground. I thought that I broke my knee, but I never knew that after that day I would have experienced the worst day a month after on February 15th.
When I was about to enter my junior year of high school, I was diagnosed with juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Prior to being officially diagnosed, for several months I was in insurmountable pain that turned me into someone who wanted to do nothing, not because I didn't want to but because I couldn't, but also limited me from participating in the activities I wanted to. Although I had many decent days where the pain was minimal, there were also plenty of days that I dreaded that caused my joints in my fingers, wrists, feet, and knees to swell and prevent me from doing simple everyday activities like tying my shoes or brushing my hair. After visiting multiple doctors and being on multiple different treatments I found the right treatment that successfully alleviates my pain. While going through the process of finding the correct treatment, I remembered my nickname, and I remembered that I can't change the circumstances, I could only change my attitude about it.
Luke Kuechly, a first round draft pick in 2012, is a 25 year old linebacker for the Carolina Panthers. Kuechly is obviously one of the best inside linebackers to play the game as he has already made three trips to the Pro Bowl, was awarded First-Team All-Pro selection three times, and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012. He has a clear passionate for the game, yet the star may be closer to retirement than he and his fans hope. Kuechly has already received two threatening concussions in his past two seasons that would likely negatively impact his future health and well-being. Fans wait in fear to see if their star defender will ever return to the game.
This is the story about me, Carlos, a 12 year old kid from Miami who broke his ribs. It was just yesterday, and my soccer team was playing the best team in the state. It was very hot outside; around 100 degrees. We came to the field ready to play, but so were they. It was a tough fought game, and by halftime the game was scoreless, 0-0.
Unable to straighten my leg I became very panicked but my coach assured me that I would be ok. Little did he know that it was going to be a life altering injury. The next day I went to my doctor’s office to get my knee checked out (I was still worried because my knee was still
I was overjoyed, as I had just made the Carmel Select travel lacrosse team, which I had worked tenaciously hard to make during the winter. Throughout this stretch of time however, I was experiencing sharp knee pains in my right knee every so often. After an x-ray of my knee and an MRI, I was officially diagnosed with osteochondritis dissecans. As time went on, more and more plans began to unravel turning an original three-month absence from physical activity, to a yearlong ordeal.

As a little boy I had big dreams of playing football. When I was walking in the halls of the intermediate and middle school and saw the high school football players with their jerseys on, they were like super stars. I looked up to them because I wanted to be like them. The high school football players were popular, they were happy, and they were important to the school. Going to the football games on Friday nights was the highlight of my week.
1. I believe that death is something you should not dread or be afraid of. Eventually, we all die and it's just apart of life. Morrie said " Everyone knows they're going to die, but nobody believes it. " I think Morrie was right and that is why everyone is scared of death because they don't believe that it will happen.
Well that 's just great isn 't it, now we might lose the finals! Calm down Jim, it 's just a game, let them hurt themselves. No Dan! (Jim runs to his room and slams his door). I know people get hurt a lot, but it was their choice to play. In my opinion, I hate football.
