The Mass Media is an agent that enables us to be connected to the rest of the world even if we do not want to be, we are. It is different from other agents, such as one 's family and school, because those are agents one is closely associated with, physically. Where as, Mass Media, is a connection with the rest of the world and current events happening near and far. It 's main aspects are to inform and entertain. A great example is the daily news, whether it be on the television, in the paper, or on a smartphone. It is there to communicate with us with what is happening now, locally or globally. Another example would be the weather, the news let 's us know about that week 's forecast. Without it we wouldn 't know the weather and/or predicted conditions of the week. Gender socialization is the aspect of socialization that contains specific messages and practices the nature of being male of female in a specific group or society. In short, it places males and females into it 's own category, of which society has placed upon. Being that I am a twin, my parents would dress my twin sibling and I the same when we were younger; that included clothing in the colors of baby pink, purples, and white. My parents would socialize me as being a dainty, fragile, girl. My father would call me his "princess" and my mother would call me a "daddy 's girl". Growing up, my mother would want me to help around the house, while my father would be doing yard work. Fast forward to my pre-teens, I would take on sports and often liked playing outside, not so much with dolls. My parents at that time did not care for placing me within the stigma of being a girl in today 's society. In review, I knew what roles were placed for a girl and I often followed them but now, I like lifting heavy weights, running, and dressing "girly" when going out with my boyfriend and family
