One night, during the cold winter, I walked along the side walk to reach the local store down the block. As I walked out, before I can realize it, I was dropping down onto the concrete while bullets swiftly passed me. I then began to run back home, but I wanted to keep running. Away from Chicago, away from the west side. Growing up in Chicago, it was easy to assume that there was nothing different beyond the blocks of my streets.
Nick, the next oldest, is basically a fish, and the beach is his second home. Nick is always open to hang out with us and he is so easy to be around. Meredith is a wild one, and I love her to death and is easily my best friend/cousin. But, she does tend to worry to much,
When it comes to sports my family has many ties to Middletown High School South. In the Going as far back as the 1980’s when my Dad attended the same high school. He was a standout wrestler for the team and was given multiple scholarships to wrestle in college. My family name is everywhere within the trophy rooms and walls of Middletown South. I am the youngest of three children with two older sisters coming through high school before me.
I have lived in East Oakland my whole life. To the majority of people, the mention of East Oakland evokes thoughts of violence, shootings, and gangs. I was one of the people who believed in these stereotypes, and for a particularly long time. I was one of the people who saw Oakland as a wasteland, a place with nothing to offer me, and a place I had nothing to offer to.
I am a proud but slightly regretful owner of a Chihuahua. At the age of eight I saw an episode of “That’s So Raven” that featured a little, white, long haired Chihuahua and I died. It was the cutest little dog
“My feet are cold! ,” I mumbled for second time trying to get my mom’s attention. The smell of a bonfire filled my nose as I sniffled, trying to fight the numb that came across my face. I received no reply from her though. My eyes wandered and fixed at the glow of the fire we were all standing around.

My dad and I went to the reptile section in hope of getting a Leopard Gecko we asked the store employee if we could get some assistance of helping us get the perfect pet. she Opened up the aquarium and pulled out a brightly colored adult male I decided not him because I wanted to see the lizard grow up.
As a young girl, around the age of 10 I lived in the Perry projects with my mother. Previously to moving there I would visit often to see my great-grandmother. When I would visit my grandmother there were not many other people that were African-American. The Commodore Perry Projects had been actually made for white people.
As I compose this, I sit under a tarp as the rain pours around me turning the soil to mud. It doesn’t rain often this time of the year but when it does rain, it is best to run for cover. Currently, I am working at the Makauwahi Cave Reserve on the island of Kauai in the Hawaiian Island chain. I landed at the airport with fellow classmate Melissa Rudie. It became clear as soon as we landed that we were here for a new, challenging experience.
Each puppy had a different color collar so we called them based by their collars even though they really did have names. My sister, Elaina, coaxed, “The orange one is nice and kind.” Kaitlyn, my other sister, disagreed, “The pink one is friendly and playful.”
