Mark Twain had once said, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” This phrase can be looked upon in several different aspects. It could be looked as though he was talking about winning a game, getting the job you have always wanted, facing your biggest fear, or fighting for the people you love. The way I see it is to defeat the fear that is holding you back from the world beyond. Whether the fear is irrational or logical, everyone has at least a few fears. To keep living your life to the fullest, you must face the obstacles and hardships of life like the fears that stop you from living the most fulfilling life that the wondrous world has given you. Each puppy had a different color collar so we called them based by their collars even though they really did have names. My sister, Elaina, coaxed, “The orange one is nice and kind.” Kaitlyn, my other sister, disagreed, “The pink one is friendly and playful.” My mom asked, “Meghan, which one do you want?” Right then, the pink one hopped up on the couch and cuddled with me. It was a girl and she had bright excited eyes that you could see the optimism through. Her fur felt just like my first dog. That’s when I knew which dog I wanted. She reminded me perfectly of Abby, but her personality was so much more diverse. Abby was meek, but the pink one was so upbeat. I replied, “I want the pink one.” “That seems like the perfect dog for our family,” my mom agreed. They told the breeder named Melanie that we wanted the dog in the pink collar. Her name was Riley. We decided to keep the name of the puppy as Riley but we couldn’t take Riley home just yet because she couldn’t be away from her mother.
