About five years ago, I constantly had arguments with my mother to the point where I would stop talking to her for weeks. Until one day I woke up at four in the morning and I didn’t find my mother home. I decided to call her and find out where she was. My father walked through the door and told me to get ready and to go to the hospital because my mother wasn’t feeling well. I went inside my room and got dressed, headed to Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens. As I headed over to the hospital, many things went through my head. I made it to the hospital and saw my mother in pain lying in bed. I went up to the nurse's station to find out what was going on with my mother and they were unable to give me a diagnosis or any type of information. At exactly nine in the morning, my mother was brought into the operation room. I was sent to the waiting room and all I could remember were all the good times I had with my mother. I started to cry just thinking what would happen if my mother passed away. How was I going to take care of my little sister? How our lives were going to change completely. I walked towards a chair to have a seat and saw my father come out of the elevator. He asked what was going on with my mother and why they needed to operate her. I told him exactly what the doctor told me, that her large intestine erupted and that her bowel movements were spreading all over inside her body. I told him if they do not remove it on time she can die. We waited to hear from either the doctor or nurse, but no one was able to update us. It felt like they were taking forever in the operation room. Finally, around four pm, the doctor came out and told us that so far everything came out okay. At the moment we were not able to see her because she was in the recovery
